To know the difference between the Meccan and civil fences is an important role in knowing the abrogator from the abrogated, and the knowledge of the history of Islamic legislation , its stages, and how to reach a correct understanding of the verses of the Qur’an and its surah, and among its benefits is also a great statement that Muslims care about the Holy Qur’an, since they not only memorized its texts, but also They preserved and transmitted the time when these texts were revealed so that this bears witness to the absolute confidence that believers give to this great book.

The meaning of the Meccan wall and the civil wall

In the meaning of the Meccan and civil walls, scholars have three terms:
  • The first : The Meccan Wall is the wall that was revealed in Mecca, and everything that was revealed before the emigration is considered to be if it came without Mecca , and the civil wall is the wall that was revealed in the city, and all that was revealed after the emigration is considered a non-city. [1]
  • Second : The Meccan wall is the wall that landed in Mecca, and the civil wall is the wall that was revealed in Medina. [2]
  • Third : The Meccan wall is what signed a letter to the people of Mecca . And the civil fence is what happened to the people of Medina. [3]

The reason for the scholars ’approach to these terms in the meaning of the Meccan and civil fences is due to their difference in what is considered to be in the descent.

Methods of knowing Meccan from the civil

There was no statement from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about the Meccan wall from the civil wall , because the Companions, may God be pleased with them, knew the Meccan wall and the civil wall, as they were witnesses and present to the descent of the wall, so there was no need for a text from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to show that, but why not May peace and blessings be upon him.

As for the centuries that followed the companions and the followers , the scholars needed to explain the Meccan civilization in the surahs of the Holy Qur’an in order to enter the dictionaries in Islam and their distance from the era of prophethood. The scholars followed two paths in their knowledge: [4]
  • The acoustic portrait : knowledge of the Meccan wall and the civil wall through the account of one of the companions, may God be pleased with them, who watched the revelation and attended the period of revelation, or through one of the followers who heard from the companions. Examples of this path include:
    • What was narrated by Muslim on the authority of Saeed bin Jabir, who said: I said to Ibn Abbas: “Is the one who killed a deliberate believer of repentance?” He said: No. He said: This verse in the Criterion is recited to him: “And those who do not call with God another god and do not pass the name of God.” In truth ( [5] to the end of the verse. He said: This is a Meccan verse that was copied by a civil verse: (And whoever kills a believer deliberately, his reward is Hell) ). [6] ) [7]
    • The hadeeth of Aisha, may God be pleased with her: (He descended in Mecca on Muhammad - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - and I am a female slave who plays: (The hour is their appointment, and the hour is more time and order) [8] Surah Al-Baqarah and the women descended only when I have him). [9]
  • Standard discretionary : adopted by scientists in this way on the first road; where they looked at the Koranic texts, and they have developed characteristics and controls of the fence Meccan civil fence and Onzloha on the wall that did not mention it Makiya or civilian, what approved the terms of the fence Meccan considered Makiya, and approved the terms of the fence civilian considered Civilian.
